Battlefield tours
We know the battlefields of France and Flanders intimately. Having
walked the ground and arranged and led tours the length and breadth
of the front, we can not only show you the popular tourist sites
but the hidden, little known, spots too.
We do not arrange package tours. Instead, we assemble
for you an itinerary for a tour that will become a long-lasting
memory. We accompany you and your party on that tour and lead you
through the experience, if you wish. Finally, we can assist in
making all the necessary travel and accommodation arrangements.
You can use our transport or yours. It is all absolutely bespoke
to your needs.
Perhaps you would like to follow in the footsteps of a soldier
that we have researched for you. Maybe you would like a more general
education into trench warfare and see the sights. Possibly you
would like to see where men from your town fought in a famous battle.
We’ll discuss with you your precise interests and requirements
and put it all together for you.
Ideas
As a thought starter, here is a list of “titles” for
battlefield tours we have conducted. Generally, they were of 3-5
days duration, but there is no limit either way. We would be pleased
to help assemble one of these tours for you, or design any other
itinerary you like:

in 1914
- The Ypres Salient
- Somme 1916
- The Australians at Fromelles
- Nineteen great mines: Messines,
June 1917
- Following the tracks of the poets and artists
- The Battle of
Loos
- “Kaiserschlacht”: the German Spring offensive
of 1918
- Deeds that won the Empire: tales of the Victoria Cross
winners
- In the footsteps of the lads of Little Birch
- Tank warfare: Flers,
Cambrai and Amiens
- Canadians at war: Mount Sorrel, Vimy Ridge and Hill
70

Got a party going and would
like a guide?
Perhaps you have already organised a trip. All
sorts of organisations, from schools, workplaces, clubs and societies
do this. We would be happy to accompany you and provide on-the-ground
guidance and expertise.
Our guides
We can provide a suitable guide for whichever
tour and date you wish to undertake. Often this will be Chris
Baker but depending on the subject and area to
be visited we can often tap into our network for that perfect guide
for you .
