When you engage us, we both agree to these terms and conditions.

Basic terms

Upon your acceptance of the terms of our quotation and our emailed acknowledgement of your instructions:

c) fourteeneighteen will use reasonable endeavours to perform the research, to find all information required and available and to produce the deliverables in the format agreed;

d) Completion of a research project can normally be made within 6 weeks of date of order but this cannot be guaranteed due to the open-ended nature of our enquiries. If a specific delivery date is required by the Client we can usually make special arrangements to achieve this but it must be agreed before commencement and will require the submission of a new proposal;

e) fourteeneighteen will invoice the Client, on or soon after the date of sending the summary report to the Client;

f) The Client will pay fourteeneighteen within 7 days of the date of invoice;

g) Fees once paid are not refundable for any reason;

h) fourteeneighteen retains all intellectual property used or generated in the project;

i) The Client agrees that fourteeneighteen may use information discovered during the project for use on this website or any other websites belonging to Milverton Associates Limited.

Additional terms applicable to Clients residing or providing an address outside
the United Kingdom

We reluctantly require a deposit to be paid to us before we acknowledge your order and commence work. This has been introduced only because of the poor payment record of previous Clients outside the UK. The deposit and how to pay it is defined on our automatic quotation page.

Our invoice will give full instructions on how to pay for the work performed.

We offer the following payment methods as standard:

2) Using a credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Switch or Solo), via Paypal, a secure online payment gateway that requires you to create an account. This method allows you to be billed and pay in Pounds Sterling, Euros or US Dollars.

3) By cheque, drawn on a bank in Pounds Sterling.

Cancellation

The performance of our services commences immediately on sending a confirmation email to you. You may cancel at any time - by email only - up to the point where the confirmation is sent to you. Cancellation thereafter for any cause will incur a fixed fee of £30, which will be invoiced to you by email and is payable on presentation.

Your contract

fourteen/research is a trading name of Milverton Associates Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom. Registered Office: 8 Overell Grove, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 6HP. Registered number: 4582510. Your contract for the work is with Milverton Associates Limited and payment is to the company. This gives you all the legal protection you would expect in dealing with a professional business.

Deliverables

Our default method of delivery of documents is by fully electronic means. Copies of original documents will be from electronic scans produced by the National Archives or digital photographs of originals. Our report to you and our invoice will be in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format. In most circumstances these documents are of a size that can be emailed to you. On occasion, there is too much material to email: we will burn these documents to a CDROM and post it to you.

If you have selected our "paper report" option then our report and invoice will be printed, and in some cases the documentation found will also be printed. In other cases, where documentation is extensive, our printed report will be accompanied by a CDROM carrying an electronic version of the supporting documents.
