Quotation
On this page you will find full details
of our service and what it will cost. This is important stuff and
we ask you to read it through carefully. Once you place an order,
a draft contract is in place between us which is confirmed when we
acknowledge it in a subsequent step.
Read it all and just want to get going?
Common surnames
We are sorry but we do not undertake work for men with the following
surnames, unless they were commissioned officers or you
have already found their service record from on-line sources. Due
to the vast numbers of records to go through, it is simply not economic
for us to accept engagements on a fixed fee basis. You may need to
find a researcher who is willing to do this work and you will probably
find that they will work on a "fee per hour" basis. The
names affected are:
Brown, Clarke, Davies, Edwards, Evans, Green,
Hall, Harris, Hughes, Johnson, Jones, Lewis, Martin, Roberts, Robinson,
Smith, Taylor, Thomas, Thompson, Walker, White, Williams, Wilson,
Wood, Wright

site and provide you with copies and access to our client portal.

on the records found (see below), we will attach a covering letter
explaining what we have found or not found.

We will create a report on the soldier's military
career, as described elsewhere on this site.
Caveats
You should be aware of the risks involved in undertaking such a
project:
- Only around 1 in 3 service records have survived for men who
were not officers; in the event that the service record can not
be found we will do our best to interpret his career from the other
information found;
- It is occasionally not possible to identify an individualwith
certainty. For example if his service record can not be found and
you are unsure of his regiment or number, he may be one of several
"possibles". We will do our best to identify him and interpret
his story, but there have been cases where all we could do is list
the "possibles";
- Military documents do not always provide good family information
such as next of kin and birth dates, even if the service record
is found;
- Our fees are for undertaking the work, not for the success of
the search. We always take a sympathetic view when a man can not
be uniquely identified and will often offer a lower fee, after
we have reported.
Clients residing or giving an address outside the United Kingdom
We require a small deposit to be paid in advance of us undertaking your project. This deposit will be deducted from your final invoice. Please continue to provide your details and we'll let you know how to do this before you leave the site. This is not necessary for clients in the United Kingdom.
What next?

your name and address and details of the soldier you wish to research;

the details;
- We get on with it! No payment is required from you until we have
done.
